Louis - Bath Spa University

Hello! I'm a second-year Creative Computing student on the Web Technologies pathway. I have valuable experience as a freelance web designer and developer and I'm keen to take on new tasks.

Previous Work

  • A Cook's Plot: primarily a food and gardening blog, the website for A Cook's Plot was built using HTML, CSS and JavaScript along with the static site generator Jekyll and it is deployed using Cloudflare. It also uses a CMS called Forestry.
  • Journée: working as part of a small team of three at Bath Spa University, I helped to develop an abstract audiovisual web app which presents the reflections of students on their university experience. I primarily worked on creating the animations for the project, using the JavaScript library "Pixi", as well as transforming it into a PWA (Progressive Web App). The development of this project is still ongoing.
  • Haymay: the website showcases and markets Haymay towards potential customers and users to promote their new service—an online platform for enhancing student learning through collaborative problem-solving. The project is still ongoing with final details being added by the Haymay team.
  • You can also find more projects on my portfolio website: louiscarnell.com.

Skills

  • Web development: proficient in using many different web technologies to create responsive websites and web apps. This includes HTML, CSS and JavaScript along with Git/GitHub, CMS software and static site generators such as Jekyll, in addition to cloud services including Cloudflare and Netlify. Furthermore, I have experience using the Wix website builder and services.
  • Web design: experience using software such as Figma and Adobe XD to design high-fidelity mockups that are intuitive and visually appealing.

Testimonials

"Louis has done a fantastic job creating a new website for me, incorporating three disparate elements (a food blog, a gardening blog and a B&B business). The overall site looks great and does everything I want it to. Highly recommended."
