Hello! My name is Isabelle and I am currently studying a Masters in English Literature at Cardiff University. If I were to describe myself in three words, they'd be: diligent, enthusiastic and punctual.
I am a highly self-motivated, organised and critical individual who has worked hard to become successful within academia, achieving high standard results throughout my education. I am a recent graduate of Cardiff University, where I achieved a first in my English Literature and Creative Writing degree, which has honed my skills in written communication, problem solving, critical thinking and time management. Within my professional life, I have had experience in customer service, hospitality and management, which has allowed me to become successful at multi-tasking and delivering a prompt and friendly service.
Features Editor of The Tab Cardiff:
I managed, commissioned, edited and published relevant articles on student related issues, mentoring a cohort of new writers and teaching them invaluable skills in formatting. A collection of articles I have written can be found here: https://thetab.com/author/isabellemurray
Manager, Phoenix Books:
I oversaw the distribution, organisation and sales of second-hand books. I handled administrative tasks, including cashing-up at the end of each day, and inventory movements. I engaged with the surrounding community, identifying popular genres of literature and arranging the bookshop so that those genres were top priority.
English Literature Tutor, MyTutor:
I teach GCSE and A Level students of various abilities curriculum content across all Boards in preparation for their exams. I structure each lesson to the student’s individual needs, whether it be in essay preparation or course content.
Internship, Barnet General Hospital:
I shadowed the head of department A&E consultant, where I viewed patient check-ins, bedside procedures and drug administrations. I was taught new medical terminology and procedures, with the opportunity to put
my understanding to the test in high-intensity situations.
Assistant Netball Coach, NNC Netball Club:
I managed multiple primary school teams through their league matches, overseeing training, fitness and personal growth of the children. I liaised with fellow coaches, identifying the strengths of each individual player, before providing feedback to parents on the personal development of their children.
