Lauren - Birmingham City University

Hi! My name is Lauren and I am currently a second-year journalism student at Birmingham City University. I am organised, creative and motivated to use the skills I have to create work of the highest standard for tasks, within the deadline.
I have spent my time consolidating various different aspects of my journalism skills, which continuously add to the passion I have for journalism and will be valuable later in my career in the industry.

Work Experience

  • BBC Get Into Media Scheme: Received my first professional introduction to camera, video, and editing work. Created group content to present back to peers.

  • BBC Traineeship: Individually creating content across different sectors of the media (e.g. blog writing, social media, podcasts and radio), after receiving training from industry professionals and then presenting it back to them.

  • Moral Maze: Researching relevant experts, who would be able to speak on the chosen episode topic and gather contact information and any other relevant information to pass on to the Assistant Producer of the show. Finding article cuttings based on the chosen topic and the angles of it that were to be discussed.

Skills

Content Creating: I've gained experience in Canva and want to further in develop these skills for social media content.

Blog/Article Writing: Currently studying journalism, I have spent my time consolidating these skills and learning how to adapt to different written platforms.

Video Editing: I have a keen interest to develop my skills in creating video content for a variety of different platforms.
